Knowing God As He Is

Do you worship a God you’ve made up? Make it a priority today to know God as He is.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. EPHESIANS 1:17

Are you worshiping a God you’ve made up? A God who meets your needs — by your own definition? A God who’s convenient? A God who bears no resemblance to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? I don’t want to know God like that. I want to know Him as He is.

I want to know Him like Noah did … as his salvation from judgment. Like Moses did … as his liberator from oppression. Like Elijah did … as his peace in the midst of a whirlwind, earthquake, and fire. Like Jeremiah did … as One who is faithful and true when his nation was disintegrating.

Jesus prayed, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3). Knowing God and bringing Him glory are the reasons for our existence. God knows you. But how well do you know God?

Make it your priority to know God and to grow in your knowledge of Him so that you know Him better today than yesterday and better tomorrow than today.
