Keeping Pace with Jesus

What would happen if I patterned EVERY ASPECT of life after the life pattern of Jesus ?

Jesus spent most of His earthly ministry walking—simply going from one place to another.

Most of the events in Jesus’ life are not things that He sought after. They were things that came to Him. Most of the healing stories begin with someone coming to Jesus. Most of the teaching stories start with someone coming to Jesus to ask a question.

Jesus seems to have been content to simply walk along the path that the Father had chosen for Him and wait for the next situation that would be put in front of Him.

On the other hand, I’m told that I live in a world where I have to make things happen. I have to get out and strategize and plan and focus, and with great effort, move the rock to the top of the hill. Jesus didn’t seem to be under that kind of pressure. He spent a lot more time in prayer than I do, and He was much more open to seeing how the Father was working in and around Him.

I think I need to pay more attention to Jesus than I do the leadership gurus of our world.

His model seems to have been very simple:
- First, focus on your relationship with God the Father.
- Second, keep walking.
- Allow the opportunities to change the world to come to you.

So, where’s your focus today—on your relationship with God the Father, or on getting things done?

How’s your pace? Is it frantic, hurried? Jesus was content to walk.

What moment is God putting in front of you, that when we look back, will be seen as the opportunity for you to change the world?
