Keeping a Right Mind
Description
It’s been said that a mind is a terrible thing to waste. This usually refers to a child who isn’t given a proper education, but I think we can take it a bit further and see how this can apply to all of us when it comes to our daily lives.
God says that when we meditate or think on the Bible, success will come our way (see Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3; Romans 12:2). When we have thoughts of discouragement, fear, anxiety, anger, jealousy, or anything else negative, we’re wasting our “mind time.” The best thing we can do at these times is immediately meditate on a scripture that combats the negative we’ve been thinking about. By doing this, we allow God’s peace and comfort to rule in our hearts rather than the stress that comes from wrong thinking.
I want to leave you with a Bible verse that has helped me over the years. I pray it will be a blessing to you today. It’s simple yet life-changing, and is found in Philippians 4:8: “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise!”
