Keep It Simple

You don't have to impress anyone with deep theological talk; just take pleasure in the reality of your personal relationship with the Lord and all the Wonders of His Person.

"But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."  (2 Corinthians 11:3, NKJV)

I am so glad that the Lord is not complex. He keeps it simple. He's leveled the playing field for all of us. There is simplicity in Christ. Sometimes, we are tempted to think that unless we understand all the Greek, Hebrew, theological arguments, historical context and every hermeneutical law of Biblical interpretation, we cannot possibly understand the deep things of God!

Relax. Jesus did not intend to be confusing. The religious people of His day, the doctors of the Law, the Pharisees and Sadducees tried to muddy the waters and make God austere, formal, religious and mystifying. Jesus ruined their whole paradigm – He keeps it simple. God meets us right where we are at.

If you're a brainiac…the Lord will connect with you in an intelligent way that makes sense to you. If you're not the sharpest pencil in the drawer…have no fear! Jesus is a Person…not a subject. He's Personal…not a research project.

The beauty of the Lord is that He makes the most wisdom-laden realities – simple! Take Redemption, for example, when you study God's eternal plan for man it's absolutely amazing. His foreknowledge, His attention to detail, His patience, His prophetic words, the literal and symbolic types and shadows, the biological and miraculous Incarnation and Jesus as the Son of God and Son of Man is beyond man's mind – yet – simple. If you don't fully understand all the mechanics of your Great Salvation, no worries; you can still enjoy the experience of all that Redemption means. You can have a personal, life-filled relationship with the Lord God Almighty. Jesus is our Redeemer. We know Him and that's enough! There is simplicity in Christ.

Think about it this way. Perhaps, you don't understand all the inner workings of the engine in your car. You might think that pistons, carburetors and mufflers might sound like a great new salad. Good news – you don't need to know all the mechanics, just enjoy the simplicity of putting your key in the ignition and driving your car!

You don't have to impress anyone with deep theological talk; just take pleasure in the reality of your personal relationship with the Lord and all the Wonders of His Person – in all of its simplicity!

If you've tried to make the whole Christian thing too complex and confusing…relax today.

Say It: “Father, I am so glad that You've made it simple. Jesus, today I am not going to worry about all the things I don't know or understand…I am going to focus on enjoying the simplicity of just knowing You as my Lord and very best friend. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
