Justice Is the Pursuit of People Who Belong to God

Description

Righteousness and justice go hand-in-hand. They cannot be separated, and we who follow Jesus should work for both in a world gone mad.

God will make it all right! We live in world turned upside down at present. It’s an unjust place, an unholy place, and a place where the oppressed cry out to the Creator night and day. And we who belong to Jesus are agents of His Kingdom and its values, which include justice and peace. Our primary means of bringing peace and justice to the world around us is by way of telling the good news of Jesus who died to level the playing field and make salvation and redemption possible for all equally. But our world goes on in its trampling of the principles of justice.

When people are oppressed and persecuted, when the liberties of many are trampled, and when systems fail to secure equal opportunity and fair treatment for all people, what should we do? We choose to live out the principles of justice in every way possible in our own world and our own circles of influence.

Isaiah put it this way, “Be just and fair to all. Do what is right and good, for I am coming soon to rescue you and to display my righteousness among you.” (56:1 NLT)

Righteousness (that which lines up with God’s revealed standards of holiness) and justice (the equitable treatment of all people) go hand-in-hand. They cannot be separated, and we who follow Jesus should work for both in a world gone mad, knowing that someday, Jesus will rule and reign as King and justice will truly be enjoyed by all!
