Just Short of Consumption

Description

Just before we are consumed by hopelessness, our great God pours out hope, peace, love and healing.

Read: Lamentations 3:1-66

I have been pierced by the emotional arrows of my enemies and left with internal bleeding that no medical device would be able to detect. When I gained the strength to seek out those enemies to confront them, I came face to face with myself. The very “one” that was tearing me down was myself, my thoughts.

Lamentations 3 describes a scene where we are torn and mangled, all but left for dead. Then, just before we are consumed by hopelessness, our great God pours out hope, peace, love and healing.

How are we to react when we find ourselves at the pointed end of the arrows? Do we just lay down and die? Do we shoot back? We are to remain faithful, trusting that God is going to work it out for our good. We are to quietly wait for Him, anticipating His arrival, believing that He will do what He says He will do. Cry out His name, pleading for Him to show up where you are, no matter how long it takes.
