Junk Store Wishes

Isn’t it funny how things we so desperately wanted at one time can become so unappealing?

Isn’t it funny how things that we so desperately wanted at one time can be so unappealing now?

When my friend, who’s also named Lisa, was first married, she had no furniture, little money and big ideas for decorating her new home. In the mall at the top of the escalator, was the sofa set of her dreams. It was her biggest wish to one day own this furniture. But, she never did.

Last week, Lisa was driving down the highway when she passed a thrift store and what do you think was sitting out front? The sofa set of her newlywed dreams. And it was ugly! For the life of her, she couldn’t figure out why she’d wanted it so badly all those years ago.

Isn't that the way it goes? The things we think we want out of this life aren't really what will truly satisfy us.
