Jude

Description

A tour of Jude with Ken Boa.

Jude combines the style of his brother James and the theme of 2 Peter to create a brief but powerful word of warning and exhortation.  Many of the New Testament epistles confront the problem of spiritual counterfeits, but Jude is the most passionate in its denunciation of their teachings and practices. This epistle serves as a potent reminder of the reality of the spiritual warfare that is all about us, and it teaches us that complacency leads to surrendered territory, while commitment to the Person and cause of Christ will keep us from stumbling.

Although his initial intention was to write “about our common salvation,” Jude realized that in view of the growing threat of heretical teachers, he had to urge his readers to “contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.”  Thus, his primary purpose in writing this epistle was to expose the character and tactics of the ungodly deceivers who were infiltrating the churches and seducing believers to follow in their immoral path.

READING of JUDE

Prayer:

Lord, to You who are able to keep me from stumbling, and to make me stand in the presence of Your glory blameless with great joy, to the only God my Savior, through Jesus Christ my Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever.

Meditation passage for today: verses 3-4, 20-21, 24-25
