As soon as Joshua assumed the mantle of Moses, he faced the daunting task of leading the children of Israel across the Jordan River to begin their conquest of the promised land. The Lord Himself encouraged Joshua and exhorted him to be strong and of good courage. Further, the key to Joshua’s success rested in his relationship with the Lord, and therefore he needed to be a man of the Word who meditated in it day and night. By cultivating his daily walk with God, Joshua would be a fit leader to guide the people into the inheritance the Lord had promised to them.
