Cyber-bullying is wrong and you shouldn't do it. Do you ever feel guilty for cyber-bullying or making fun of your friends or classmates?

Back in the Stone Age, you know, when your parents were in elementary school, kids used to have to write on paper to pass notes to each other. Often, the notes were filled with gossip—talking about other people behind their backs.

Today, thanks to computers, there’s a whole new level of gossip—it’s called cyber-bullying. From the “safety” of their homes, kids who want to put people down can taunt their classmates and ruin their reputations—all with a few keystrokes.

Maybe you’ve even done that. For a little while, mocking others might make you feel more powerful, but that’s not what true power looks like. Jesus, who has all the power of the almighty God, actually gave up his power to come to earth. He lived his whole life being mocked by others. While he was on trial, “Herod and his soldiers treated Jesus with contempt and made fun of him” (Luke 23:11). As he was about to be crucified, “the soldiers finished making fun of Jesus, they took off the cape and put his own clothes back on him” (Matthew 27:31).

Every time you use your words to hurt people, Jesus knows exactly how those kids are feeling.

Maybe right now you are feeling a little guilty. God wants you to know that when the mockers nailed him to a cross, Jesus took the punishment for the times you mock other people. Not only is your sin gone, but your guilt is gone too. When God looks at you, he sees Jesus and chooses to not even remember what you have done.

Now with true power, the real power of the Holy Spirit who lives inside of you, you can choose to use your words for good.
