Jesus, the Perfect Model of Humility
Have you ever noticed how humility characterizes Jesus?
From God He was made man, embodying all the aspects of our humanity. He knew rejection, lack of understanding, sadness, pain, abandonment, and even betrayal.
He was not just made man ... He was also a servant of men, going so far as to lower Himself before them. This is what we see in the Bible in John 13:5: “After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.”
So, the King of the universe got down on His knees and washed His disciples’ feet …
And even more than a servant, He was a voluntary slave, accepting an unjust burden: the weight of our sins, nailed to the tree He so painfully carried down the Via Dolorosa all the way to Golgotha.
A man among men, He knew how to keep a pure heart attitude and was grateful for everything that God gave Him...This humility, which adorns Him with majesty, is perfect humility, untainted by the shadow of false modesty.
What an example for us, our God is imbued with one of the most beautiful qualities that could ever exist: humility. This is why I encourage you to seek and develop this same humility in your own heart ... so that, each day, you may grow more and more into the image of His likeness!
