Like an adopted child, when we accept Jesus Christ’s offer of salvation, we become a part of His family and are privilege to all the benefits. He conquered death so you could join His family, be a part of His Kingdom, and receive every spiritual blessing.
“Can we borrow your car?” The question was asked in desperation. Our friends had just gotten the call that the baby girl they were adopting had arrived, and they needed to pick her up the next day. Problem was, their car was in the shop. Only 24 hours to prepare for a major life change. Once the adoption was complete, by law, that child would be as much a part of that family as any biological babies the parents may have in the future.
Like an adopted child, when we accept Jesus Christ’s offer of salvation, we become a part of His family and are privilege to all the benefits. As the apostle Paul writes, “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ” (Rom. 8:16-17).
That’s quite an inheritance: to be co-heirs with the King of King and Lord of Lords, for Jesus has gone before us to prepare a place for us (John 14:3), and will one day invite us to join Him in ruling His Father’s kingdom (1 Cor. 6:2; Eph. 2:6).
These gifts and privileges come out of a deep, unconditional love and goodness to us. Jesus explains, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!” (Matt. 7:11).
Do you feel loved? Are you a part of God’s loving, royal, and holy family? If not, you can be adopted at any time by accepting Jesus Christ’s death as atonement for your sins. He conquered death so you could join His family, be a part of His Kingdom, and receive every spiritual blessing. Will you accept the gift of this great inheritance from Him today?
