Acts 17:30-31 (NIV®)
Now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.
I have studied in some very diverse academic settings. In all of them, when the topic of Jesus comes up, there is a healthy discussion about His life. I’ve heard some interesting debates! Scholars apply the criteria of historical authenticity to the Jesus-story, to try to decide how much of it is really true. I believe the Bible’s assertion that Jesus is the Son of God and that He is coming back to the earth a second time. And when He comes back, He’s not coming as a baby in a manger or the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world. When He comes the second time, He’s coming as Judge of all the earth. It’s very important that we grasp this aspect of Jesus’ character. We hear a lot about being “on the right side of history,” and this is one event you will want to be on the right side of.
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus the Christ, as the Savior of the world. I believe Jesus is the Son of God and is coming back to the earth a second time. I yield to Your purposes. Use my life to help others be ready for His return. In His name I pray, amen.
