Jesus Calls Me Friend

Description

Even on days when you struggle, miss the mark, or fail the “love test,” Jesus remains your friend. He will never abandon or betray you.

“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” (John 15:15, NIV)

In life, we develop many relationships. Some of them last for a season, others a lifetime. At any point in time, we can usually look back and count our close, dependable, and trustworthy friends on one hand. You know – the kind of friends who are always there for you through thick and thin, good or bad, happy or sad, no matter what.

I find it amazing and very comforting to know that Jesus calls me friend. Yes, He is my friend, the best friend I will ever have. He talks to me, reveals and ex-plains secrets about the mysteries of life. Sometimes we just hang out together and I simply embrace who He is. I trust Jesus and look forward to sharing the most private details of my life: my hopes, dreams, disappointments, hurts, sadness, anger and frustration. I am at ease and I know that I can tell Him everything about any situation in my life. I am comforted and reassured to know that Jesus never forgets or breaks a promise.

Even on the days when I struggle and miss the mark or fail the “love test,” He remains my friend. He is always patient, forgiving, and accepting of my shortcomings. I know that I can trust Him to give me the grace to face every situation. I can count on Him to back me up in any fight. I feel secure knowing that He will never abandon me or betray me. I can always count on Him to be supportive and understanding. He encourages me when I feel tired and weak and am on the verge of giving up.

Yes, Jesus is my friend. Do you know Him? Does He call you friend? If not, I encourage you to invite Him into your life today.

Lord, thank you for loving me and for sending Jesus to be my friend. Jesus, I cannot imagine life without you. My life will never be the same because I have you. Through the blood of Jesus and in the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
