Takes God to Prepare for God

00:00

Description

The Holy spirit who oversaw the birth of Jesus is the one who oversees us in our spiritual birth and in our spiritual growth.

In the Old Testament, Psalm 139 says that God has woven us together in our mother’s womb. Would it be anyone less than God who would prepare the womb of Mary and create the human nature the Son of God would inhabit? In the Gospels, we are told that was the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Only God prepared the way for God.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows. When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her, desired to put her away secretly. But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, Son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18-20).

The agent in the birth of Christ was the Holy Spirit. It is striking that the Holy Spirit who is to come to earth after the departure of Jesus also prepared the way for Christ in the womb of Mary. The agent to work in our lives and in our hearts is the same Holy Spirit. What a privilege we have that he who oversaw the birth of Jesus is the one who oversees us in our spiritual birth and in our spiritual growth.
