It Shook the Foundation of the World and Raised People to Life

Description

Jesus shed His blood for every sin you will ever commit. Because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross, you receive the gift of forgiveness at the moment of salvation.

Hear

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Believe

Jesus was crucified between two criminals at a place called the Skull, or Golgotha. We call it Calvary. It was 9 in the morning when the soldiers nailed his hands and feet to the cross and then suspended Him between heaven and earth.

At noon, the sky darkened. It was the darkest moment in human history. God was making Jesus, the One Who had no sin, to be sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21).

At 3 in the afternoon, Jesus said in a loud voice, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

And then, in victory, He cried out, “It is finished!”

This was no ordinary death, and it was suffered by no ordinary Person. This was Jesus, the Lord and Creator of all, offering Himself as the perfect Lamb of God. His achievement removed the barrier that stood between God and man. It shook the foundation of the world and raised people to life. God was telling mankind to take note, to stop and consider the implications.

Jesus shed His blood for every sin you will ever commit. Because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross, you receive the gift of forgiveness at the moment of salvation.

Live

Have you believed in Jesus Christ? What did you receive at that moment of belief? You received forgiveness of sins. As a child of God, you have forgiveness for all your sins – past, present, and future. That is why Jesus cried out in victory, “It is finished!” If your future sins weren’t included, He would have to die again. That will never happen.

There is nothing left to be done. The gift of forgiveness you received at salvation is complete.
