Too many of us focus only on today, but God wants us to invest our stuff in the future.

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! (Proverbs 6:6)

Have you ever watched an ant hard at work? It finds a treasured morsel, loads it on its back and carries it precisely along a trail that has been laid out. Without deviating, it stays focused on the destination and stores it up for the future.

Too many of us focus only on today. But, God wants us to invest our stuff in the future. A good rule-of-thumb is the 10-10-80 principle. Bring 10% (tithe) to the church, save 10% for the future and live off of 80%. When we invest 10% in the church, we are investing in the lives of others and storing up treasures in heaven. When we invest 10% in our future, we are being wise with what we are given.

PRAY
Ask God to give you 1) commitment to tithe faithfully, 2) wisdom to save wisely and 3) generosity as you ask Him how to spend your money well.
