Intimate and Organic

When I am joined with the Lord in an intimate and organic relationship, the harvest of my life is sure to be abundant.

I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing. Anyone who separates from me is deadwood, gathered up and thrown on the bonfire. But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon. This is how my Father shows who he is—when you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples (John 15:5-8, MSG).

As moms, we are constantly doing something. Our days are busy and full. In the midst of all the activity, it can be hard to keep our focus on the eternal. It is so easy to believe that we are producing. With all of the energy and effort we expend each day, how could we not reap an abundant harvest? How completely disappointing to think it is possible for us to work so hard day in and day out and not produce a single thing that has lasting value.

When I am joined with the Lord in an intimate and organic relationship, the harvest of my life is sure to be abundant. I don't know about you, but that is a challenging thought for me. My life is so fast paced in this season that I don't feel like I experience intimate and organic relationship with anyone! That is the lie that Satan wants me to believe.Too often, I buy into the lie that there are too many things on my to do list and too many people depending on me and expecting me to take care of them for me to slow down and experience an intimate and organic relationship with Christ. Do not believe the lie that an intimate and organic relationship with Christ is not possible in this busy season of life.

The truth is, God is accessible at all times. We can engage with our heavenly Father in the midst of the busyness, the stress, the pain, the frustration and just everyday life. When I prioritize my relationship with Christ and invest in it so it can be intimate and organic, the rest of life seems to get a whole lot easier. All of a sudden my burdens don't seem quite so heavy or pressing and I feel much more relaxed. Life doesn't feel as exhausting and overwhelming when I slow down and take the time to abide in Christ. In contrast, I can absolutely tell when I am going about my days in my own strength; I feel like deadwood by the end of the day.

When we are intimately connected to the Lord, whatever we ask, He is listening and acting on our behalf. What a wonderful promise! It's a moment by moment choice. Am I going to take control myself and forfeit bearing eternal fruit or am I going to lean into Him and trust that He can handle ALL of the details as well as lead me in bearing eternal fruit and maturing as a child of God? He is able!  Trust Him, slow down, talk to Him, abide in Him and experience Him listening and acting on your behalf for His glory.
