Inside out

Description

Jesus is saying that it’s not the food that we eat that makes us “unclean,” but the pollutants that we allow into our hearts,

“Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a man can make him ‘unclean’ by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him ‘unclean.’” Mark 7:14-16

Think

Do you watch what you eat? How about what you allow to enter your heart? Jesus is saying that it’s not the food that we eat that makes us “unclean,” but the pollutants that we allow into our hearts, such as lust, adultery, theft, greed, etc. In all of the Scriptures we have been reading this week, Jesus is trying to make His disciples understand that it’s what’s in our hearts that truly matters.

What are you compromising within your life? What is causing you to be a hypocrite? Is it the love of money, a lustful heart, or an envious spirit? We are all guilty of living like hypocrites. Jesus came to set the captives free; even from the hypocrisy within our hearts. He’s trying to show us the way. Choose to listen and let Him guide your heart!

Pray

“Lord, help me to be mindful of what I allow into my heart. I choose to live a life free from hypocrisy and criticism. Help me to walk this out on a daily basis, and to live my life honorably, according to Your word”.
