2 Kings 19:34 (NIV®)
“I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and the sake of David my servant.”
This is a very intriguing passage to me. God says to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, “I’m going to deliver your city out of respect for my servant David.” God is speaking to His people hundreds of years after David’s death, and He is still honoring the life of David. Do you know that the life you lead and the God-choices you make will impact the generations who follow you? Sometimes when you are standing in a hard place and thinking, “Making a God-choice is more difficult than I thought it would be,” or “I wish my deliverance would come a little sooner,” it’s good to remember that your choices bear weight in both time and in the years to come.
Heavenly Father, I want to be known, like David, as a man who is devoted to You. Help me to live in such a way that my choices today will have an impact for good, both in time and in the years to come. In Jesus’ name, amen.
