"If You're Happy..."

Nine-year-old Yasmin, a Syrian refugee in Lebanon, sings with her friends in a Child-Friendly Space where children can play and enjoy activities that support their psychosocial health.

Yasmin belts out “If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.” She’s got the words and tune down pat in English and Arabic.

Yasmin is eager to learn and participate at the Child-Friendly Space. When she goes home to the meager tent she shares with 11 other family members, she teaches her younger brother and cousins the songs and stories she has learned. She reads to them and shows them the pages in her school workbook.

She hopes that when they are old enough, they’ll be able to attend, too.
