If Not for LOVE

If it were not for love, then we would all perish.

The truth is that He, the Living God, knows the truth.

He sees the sin sick soul, hears the unfiltered, wretched thoughts of mankind and knows the secret places of the human spirit.   The true ugly nature of man sends a reeking, rotten, stench heavenward. Black is the heart that does not know God.

Would it not be better if He just destroyed it all?

If not for LOVE.

He would have done it, except for Love. He sees the blackest soul, the darkest heart and the most putrid mind without destroying us.  This nature separates us from Him. We do not know the hurting beat of His heart.

Without Him decay has its way - death is satisfied.

Love has a cost.

Love, instead of disgust, rises from the heart of God. Salvation emanates in His Son – the pain of all man’s sin crushes Him. His bruised, broken and bloody body accepts the deathblows. Creation screams and angels weep at the cost of holy love. The earth quakes, darkness falls and He says, "It is finished."

A witness cries out, "Surely this was the Son of God!"

If not for LOVE.

His lifeless cold body is wrapped in burial cloth, in spice-covering stink, and given to the womb of the earth.

Evil does a victory dance.

There, under the surface, unseen by human eyes, love rises working salvation secure. Death’s grip of sin is beaten loose. He moves with healing, power and beauty in  resurrected body.

He has made a way where there was no other way.

Evil cowers in fear and death screams in impotence.

Love reigns supreme. Now our dark hearts can turn to the love of His reception. Light, the light of His love, can flood the soul, clear the mind and birth us into new life – eternal life.

Now a choice is given.

Today the sweet aroma of praise lifts to heaven, renewed hearts raised high and open hands extended even higher still in the sweet aroma of His love. Yielded hearts everywhere know Him.

If not for LOVE we all perish.

If not for LOVE we all die.

Praise the Lord of Love everlasting.

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 NIV

“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched –this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us…This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all…But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the Blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin…If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:1-2,7,9 NIV

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. John 3:16-17 NIV
