Identified with Us: The Father’s Role

00:00

Description

Because we are identified with the Son of God, His Father has become our Father.

We are part of the family of the Trinity. How did this happen? When Christ became one of us, when he became human, he did not cease being the Son of God, a member of the Trinity. As a result, his Father became our Father. Because we are identified with the Son, God the Father has become our Father also. Because we all belong to the same family, Jesus is not ashamed to call us as brothers and sisters.

For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings. For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren (Heb 2:10-11).

So, in our identity with Christ we enter into a new family where God is the Father and Christ is the noble elder brother. It is one thing to be rescued from sin. It is a wholly other thing to become a member of the family of God. Yet indeed that is what Christ has done for us.
