I'm Really Afraid

00:00

Description

Living in fear of what might be causes more anxiety than actually facing what you fear.

Root Canal! Those two words together caused wild fear.

A few years ago, one of my back teeth started hurting again. I’d had not one, not two, but three crowns on the same tooth. I couldn’t go through another procedure. So I dealt with it, for a whole year. When the pain grew bigger than my fear, I finally made the appointment.

In the end, I found having a root canal ordeal to be no big deal. The fear of it was much worse than the actual procedure. Fear often plays out that way. It paralyzes me and keeps me from doing things that really need to get done.

Living in fear of what might be causes more anxiety than actually facing what I fear.
