I Don't Know

Description

None of us knows enough, so let’s be learners together.

Proverbs 1:5 (NIV®)

Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.

If I want to learn something, the best way for me to do that is to spend time with people who have expertise in that area—watching, listening, and asking questions. There’s a challenge, though, with adult learning: it requires some humility. We don’t like to admit that we don’t know—especially in church. I want to give you permission to say without shame, “I don’t know much about that.” I want to encourage you to make the effort to find one or two people or a small group where there is no judgment or finger pointing. Ask questions and study the Scripture to find the answers. Invite someone who has been on the journey longer than you have to recommend good books or even join you. None of us knows enough, so let’s be learners together.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, my guidebook for life. Thank You for the Holy Spirit, who gives me wisdom and understanding. Thank You for surrounding me with people who are willing to teach me and mentor me. Give me humility, Lord, to say, “I don’t know” and look for answers. In Jesus’ name, amen.
