Humility in Your Weakness

Are you in distress? Are you ready to let go of your necessity to be right and self sufficient and admit to yourself and God that you need Him.

2 Chronicles 33:12 In his distress he sought the favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his ancestors.

I believe it’s fair to say that Manasseh was in distress. He was sporting some body art; a nose ring and shackles not of his choosing, and he was sitting in a prison cell in Babylon. It’s interesting that even though some of us have been in equally distressing situations, we haven’t humbled ourselves. We’ve held on to our self righteousness and our pride as if they were weapons and stubbornly stood our ground.

But in order to be humble, we have to let go of our weapons, let go of our necessity to be right or to be self sufficient and admit to ourselves and to God that we need Him. Manasseh was at that point. Are you?
