How to Illuminate Your World with the Gospel
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).
I had a man come up to me one day and tell me, “Pastor Graham, I’m being called to go into ministry. I've worked in the secular world for ten years, and the way people act and live is just so vile. If I could just work at a church, I wouldn't be so tempted to indulge in that kind of lifestyle.”
So I told him to pray about it, because contrary to popular belief, we at the church don’t just hover through the halls with our halos on! Yes, I probably work in a less “worldly” atmosphere, but while the challenges at my job may be different, they are challenges nonetheless.
It’s so important to have Christians in every sphere of life. We need poor Christians as much as we need rich Christians. We need Christian lawyers, CEOs, managers, and manual laborers. And very often, that means believers are called to live and work in tough environments where the temptation to sin is more present. But in those situations, God gives strength to live for Him.
The reason God has you where He has you is so you will shine for Him—that you might be a light to your world right where you are. So light your world with the Gospel of Christ and trust in God daily to give you the power to obey His commands!
Shine God's light into your world and cling to God daily to help you obey His commands!
