Homework: A Blessing

A young Syrian boy practices writing in Arabic outside his family’s tent in a refugee settlement in Lebanon.

He attends an early childhood education program that opened two weeks before in the informal tented settlement where he lives. He’s among the older children in the center who take home work to help them prepare to attend Lebanese schools starting at age 7.

To succeed in school the children need skills in reading, math, and English, which many have never been exposed to before.  The education center provides entertaining classes and experience in participating in a group.

Lord, You know that children whose educations are disrupted often have a hard time catching up. This threatens their future prospects to have a career and care for a family. We ask You to help children who are missing classes today. Help them to resume their studies with ease. And give teachers the training to help these students. Lord, we trust in You.
