Holy Mystery

Description

How can God be three separate persons and still one in essence? This is the greatest mystery we will ever encounter.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19

The word Trinity is not actually found in the Bible. Rather, the church has developed that term in an attempt to describe God’s identity; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. How can God be three separate persons and still one in essence? This is the greatest mystery we will ever encounter.

Just like a mystery movie, God reveals himself to us progressively throughout the Bible. The search for God’s identity does not culminate in one momentous uncovering. It is, instead, an intensive look into several clues. And as we uncover these clues, as we dig deeper in our search, we will begin to understand who God is.

And as we discover more about who God is, we need to apply what we learn to life. God doesn’t want us to just develop some head knowledge. The most important part of learning God and his truth is living it out. And until we do that, until we live it out, we are never going to truly know who God is.

This week, take what you learn of God and apply it to how you live. Reflect his truth and his teaching to the world. Unveil the mystery of God and allow those around you to see it as they look at the movie screen of your own life. Reveal to them God’s holy mystery.
