His Perfect Purpose

We need to be open to God's purposes because they change our lives for the better.

Luke 1:26 (NIV®)

God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

Sometimes God’s purposes are very personal events in our lives, and Mary typifies that beautifully. When the angel showed up and said to Mary, “I’ve got something to tell you,” he wasn’t there to have a theological discussion. He came with a very personal assignment, and Mary would never be the same again. I’m sure it changed every expectation she had for her life. There will be times when God will put that kind of invitation in front of you, and you’ll think, “If I say yes to this, everything’s going to be different. It’s not what I had planned!” God’s purposes for our lives are always best for us, even though we may not be able to see the benefits right away.

Father, forgive me for the times when You have invited me to have a part in Your purposes and I’ve seen it as second best. Give me a heart that is open to everything You have for me. Thank You for allowing me to be a part of Your plan. May my days on the earth fruitful for You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
