Here Are Three More Reasons the New Covenant is Better

Description

Paul contrasts the Old and the New Covenants three ways -- the New gives hope the Old doesn't, the New makes you free from sin whereas the Old did not, and the New promises transformation the Old can't.

Hear

"Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." (2 Corinthians 3:12-16)

Believe

Paul was a champion for the New Covenant. In reading how he contrasts the Old and the New, you can see why with these three reasons.

The new covenant gives hope — Jesus shed his blood so that you could stand before God as righteous, holy and perfect. This work guarantees that you will be him forever. And that’s hope.

In the New Covenant you are free — You are no longer in bondage to sin and death. or under the control of sin. Now you are led by the Spirit. And as Paul wrote, where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

And this freedom brings transformation — That Old Covenant kept you trapped in your sinfulness. But now that you are free, God’s Spirit is transforming you through faith into the likeness of Christ, from glory to glory.

I call that better in every way!

Live

The Old Covenant has served its purpose in your life. It pointed you to Jesus as the solution for spiritual death. Don't let the Old Covenant mindset keep a veil over your mind. Fully embrace the hope, freedom and transformation that comes as you live fully in the New Covenant.
