Helping Hands

Description

World Vision distributed relief items to families in evacuation shelters the day after Typhoon Hagupit made landfall in the Philippines in December 2014.

Heavy rains caused many areas to flood, but all forms of preparation and risk reduction — timely evacuations, plentiful shelters for families seeking safety, sturdy new construction, and prepositioned emergency supplies — contributed to lower casualties and less destruction than originally feared.

As part of its Haiyan recovery work during 2014, World Vision provided training for children and adults in disaster preparedness, which included detailed information on evacuations.
