Heavenly Bread

Jesus said that if you love Him, then you will feed His “lambs” and His “sheep.”

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” JOHN 6:35

As Jesus spoke with the apostle Peter after the resurrection, He told Peter the same thing three times with slightly different words: “Feed my lambs” … “Take care of my sheep” … “Feed my sheep” (John 21:15 – 17). Sometimes we need repetition, don’t we? It’s good to be reminded of the importance of “feeding” the children — and adults — in our lives with God’s Word.

Who are the lambs He wants you to feed? Could they be the children who keep flocking into your backyard to play with your children? Or the children who are in Sunday school classes at your church, or your children’s friends who sleep over at your home? Ask God to give you creativity in getting God’s Word into their small minds and hearts. Maybe you can “feed Jesus’ lambs” by reading a Bible story or sharing a verse with them.

And who are the sheep He wants you to care for and feed? Maybe they are the older people in your church or your neighborhood or your workplace. They can feed themselves if you provide a “green pasture” — a Bible class, home study, small group, or Sunday school where they can get into God’s Word for themselves.

Jesus said if you love Him you will feed His “lambs” and feed His “sheep.” Do you love Jesus? Then it’s time to get busy …
