He Makes All Things Beautiful
O God, from your sacred home you take care... You find families for those who are lonely… You set your people free. Psalm 68:5–7, CEV
I met Rhonda when she started coming to the same Sunday-school class I attend with several other ladies. It was evident to me early on that she was smart, a hard worker, deeply committed to her two teenage daughters, and loads of fun. What was not so evident was the pain and loneliness she’d experienced as a young mother, divorced and estranged from much of her family.
Earlier this year, Rhonda married Craig—a guy who also goes to our church—and our class celebrated with her. Not long after that, we celebrated the news that she and Craig were expecting. The months since then have been like a science experiment as we’ve watched Rhonda’s tummy expanding and monitored the baby’s growth from week to week. We just had a big shower and will soon join Craig and Rhonda as they welcome little Sacia into the world.
Something so precious to me about this story is being able to watch Rhonda’s happiness unfold in the context of our Sunday-school class. As we’ve all talked and studied Scripture together, she has shared aspects of her past, and how her faith has grown through seeing God bring her to the point she is at now. Instead of having to do it alone, Craig’s mother and sister have embraced her—and she them—in a circle of love. She also has our Sunday-school class and church. Rhonda’s gratefulness for these simple blessings has been beautiful for me to witness, a reminder that God really does make dreams come true.
FAITH STEP: Is there a desire of your heart you long to see fulfilled? Trust Jesus with it today. He is the Author and Finisher of our faith, and He makes all things beautiful in His time, His way.
