He Gives All Things
Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens—PSALM 119:89.
Can I know for sure that God has forgiven me of my sin? Can I know He’s placed His Holy Spirit in me? Can I know He’s given me eternal life? Can I know He’s even now preparing a heavenly home for me? Yes! Yes! Yes! I can. I can know for sure, and so can you.
Your hope is secure because God has given you His Word and then He made a covenant with you. The covenant wasn’t sealed with pieces of animals, as in Old Testament days, but with the broken body and shed blood of His own dear Son. You didn’t do anything to earn it; therefore, you can’t do anything to lose it.
We can believe it because the Bible says it’s true: “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also… graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).
God’s blessings—forgiveness, eternal life, heaven—do not depend on your word. They depend on His. Take God at His Word!
