Raman’s father is proud of his schoolboy son.
Before he was enrolled in school, Raman used to go with his father to sell vegetables.
After a lot of community awareness building and persuasion of community child protection members, Raman’s father agreed to educate Raman. Now he’s proud of his son and wouldn’t want anything to limit his future.
Raman attended a non-formal education center to prepare him for “real” school. He and the other children had to learn the basics of participating in a group – like sitting still and lining up – as well as simple skills like holding a pen.
"When I see my community children progressing and moving forward, that is the biggest motivation to do what we do as Child Protection Unit members. It brings me joy to be part of investing in the lives of our future generation," says Santosh, Raman’s teacher.
Please pray for the 186 million children around the world who work when they should be in school.
