Happiness and her foster mother, Modester, unpack a mosquito net they received from World Vision. Their home was destroyed by flooding in Malawi. Modester cares for seven children; two are registered in World Vision’s sponsorship program.

Life will be hard for little Happiness.  After losing her mother and father two years ago, she now stays with her mother’s sister, Modester.

“What we used to call a house is now a flat ground and we are being kept by a relative,” Modester says. Besides toiling to find food for the seven children, Modester has to think of how to rebuild their house that collapsed. She and Happiness worked together to pull metal roofing sheets out of the debris of the collapsed house.

“We have lost almost everything that we had. But I am happy all my children are safe,” says Modester.

Modester and the children also received maize, a tarpaulin for temporary shelter, and a blanket from World Vision.
