Guilt

Description

Mom’s you cannot be all things to your child—that is God’s job. We should do our best at being a mom, but then leave the rest to the Lord. Don’t allow Satan to put the chains of guilt on you to keep you down.

John 8:36

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

It seems as though the minute you become a mom, you begin feeling guilty for everything concerning motherhood. A mom feels guilty for wanting to sleep and not wanting to get up for the midnight and 3 a.m. feedings of a newborn. A mom feels guilty when her child falls and scrapes their knees or when they take them to get new shoes and realize their child’s feet grew two sizes since the last pair. A mom feels guilty when their child wants the latest and greatest item and it’s too expensive to buy. We carry guilt around like a ball and chain, dragging it everywhere we go.

Good news today! You don’t have to feel guilty for everything. In order to push past these overwhelming feelings of guilt, ask yourself one question: “have I committed a sin?” If the answer is no, then push the guilt out of your mind. Most of the time, as a mom, we feel guilty because we feel like we “should” have been able to stop our child from hurting themselves or we should have known our child’s feet were growing. But, in actuality, we have done nothing wrong and have not committed a “sin.”

Mom’s you cannot be all things to your child—that is God’s job. We should do our best at being a mom, but then leave the rest to the Lord. Of course you would rather sleep through the night without being woke up by a crying baby, but that does not make you a bad mom, so don’t feel guilty! Don’t allow Satan to put the chains of guilt on you to keep you down. Break free from guilt and live a life of freedom!

Prayer

Father, Thank you that “in” You I can find freedom. I do not have to be burdened with guilt. I can live a life of freedom in Christ and I know You truly want me to live this way. God, I pray that when I begin to feel guilty for things that I shouldn't, I would release the guilt and give those feelings over to You.
