For he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
It is comforting to know that God is our protector and He will guide us in this journey of life. So many times we look to our husbands to fill this role in our lives and when they do not come through the way we would like (or THINK they should), we get frustrated and angry. I, myself, have fallen into this trap several times in my marriage. But, God did not create any husband that can fulfill this job. Only God can guard and protect us at all times. Only God can take the bad circumstances, gently walk us through them, and get us safely to the other side.
We then, as women, need to lean into God more and trust in Him more. Are we being faithful to God in our daily lives? Do we fall into the category of what this verse is talking about? Are we God’s faithful ones? If we are, then there is a promise attached: He will protect us. That doesn’t mean nothing bad will ever happen to us in this world…but we are given the promise that God will guard and protect us.
Stop looking to your husband to guide you always and protect your from harm —start looking to God. Your husband cannot predict the future, but God KNOWS the future. Your husband cannot shield you from harm, but God can. Who will you look to, to be your guardian?
Father, I want to be known as a faithful child of God. Teach me how to do that in my life. I want Your protection and Your guidance— I realize that only in You, can I find a true sense of security. Gently remind me that You are the one to place my full trust and safety in…not to burden my husband with a role You never intended him to fill. I’m asking You today to guide my life and protect me. Thank you!
