Scripture: Ruth 1:1-4:12
"And as it happened, she found herself working in a field that belonged to Boaz, the relative of her father-in-law, Elimelech." (Ruth 2:3b NLT)
It has happened to each of us. Circumstances out of our control align in such a magnificent way that we know God has orchestrated them. Let’s call these miraculous moments “Godincidences.”
Ruth found herself right in the middle a Godincidence as she boldly and unashamedly requested to gather the fallen grain in the field of a wealthy man she would later learn was her father-in-law’s brother.
After noticing Ruth’s presence and discovering her identity, Boaz instructed his field workers not to bother her. He commanded that the young men picking the harvest allow her to follow behind them—giving Ruth the opportunity to glean the best grains. Boaz even instructed them to drop full heads of barley for her. (It was customary for the poor to wait until the harvest was completed before picking up the leftovers.) Unbeknownst to Ruth, this turned out to be a Godincidence.
God was providing abundantly for Ruth’s present, as well as setting things in place for her future.
God works such miracles every day. Sometimes He moves behind the scenes; other times He shows off for all the world to see. As His children, let’s pray that we will have eyes to see and ears to hear His work. When we find ourselves in the middle of a Godincidence, may we quickly recognize it and give thanks!
