God’s Workmanship

Description

You don’t have to wear a sign saying, “I’m a Christian.” No, they should know you by your actions. There should be something that sets you apart from others and that something is Christ’s love.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

I love a good purse and I’ll admit it— I like designer purses. There is something about the workmanship of a designer purse…so much effort is placed into every detail of the purse, from the leather, to the stitching, to the style. One of the best perks of buying and carrying a designer purse is that people “know” your purse. They understand the investment that you've made and the quality that is behind the name. You don’t have to brag about your purse or show it off— the name speaks for itself.

We as Christians also come with a name. There is a workmanship in us. God has stamped His almighty name on us and unlike a purse; we actually have a choice whether we show the qualities of our Maker. God created us to do good works, to love other people as we love ourselves. Are you modeling God to others? Do people look at you and instantly know you are a Christian because of your actions and how you love and serve others? Or are you just like everyone else— taking care of yourself and not worrying about anyone else? When people look at your life, they should be able to “see” Jesus in you. They should be able to experience Christ’s love through you, not experience rejection.

Be mindful, as you go to work, or the grocery store, or to the ball field or park, of what people are seeing when they look at you. You don’t have to wear a sign saying, “I’m a Christian.” No, they should know you by your actions. There should be something that sets you apart from others and that something is Christ’s love.

Prayer

Father, You are my creator. You have prepared me to put other’s first, to love unconditionally, to serve and walk humbly before men. God, I want to represent You well and for people to know You are the source of my love. I want to glorify You in all that I do and to bring glory to Your name.
