God’s Precious Gems
These have come so that your faith — of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire — may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. (1 PETER 1:7)
Could it be God has given you a platform of suffering so you can be a witness of His power and grace to those who are watching?
If we feel good and look good, if our home is always orderly, our boss is always pleased, our bank account is always sufficient, and we’re always patient and kind — well — that’s not so inspiring, is it? But if you have a splitting headache, the kids are screaming, and your cell phone’s ringing — and you’re patient, kind, thoughtful, loving in the midst of those challenges — then the world sits up and takes notice. It’s just not natural. It’s supernatural.
Suffering gives God opportunities to work for His glory. The Bible says these situations come so your faith can be demonstrated as genuine and Jesus’ presence in your life can be revealed. Your suffering can be a gleaming showcase for displaying the precious gems of God’s character reflected in you.
