God's Grace Bears Fruit and Grows

God’s grace grows and bears fruit. That's just the nature of the Gospel.

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9, 10).

If I had to choose just one book of the Bible to teach, Colossians would be that book. It’s the book God used to open my heart and mind to the truth of his grace. That’s when I started growing and maturing as a Christian.

And that’s exactly what the book of Colossians said would happen. Listen to these words…

“the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God's grace” (Colossians 1:6).

God’s grace bears fruit and grows. That's just the nature of the Gospel.

For many years, I didn’t see this fruit and didn’t grow in the faith because I was too focused on the do’s and the don’ts.

It took the work of the Holy Spirit to fill me with wisdom and understanding of the grace of God before I could let go of the do’s and don’ts. Once I stepped fully in to grace, depending on the vine to produce fruit, my life took on meaning and purpose.

The book of Colossians is rich with encouragement and revelation of the grace of God. Spend some time absorbing all it has to say. It will refresh your soul.

Are the do’s and don’ts stunting your growth in Christ? If so, ask God to open your heart and mind to his grace and to let that grace start bearing fruit and growing in you.
