God's Eyes

Description

Seek to look at people, possessions, and events in a new way: in the way the Lord sees them.

2 Corinthians 5:16

"So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now!" NLT

It's so easy to find something wrong with someone else. Often it's so easy that people see it as a spiritual gift. Friend, this is not one of the gifts of the Spirit. After all, people found things wrong with Jesus and He was perfect. The religious leaders were looking at Him from their own perspective rather than a heavenly one.

This change in perspective makes all the difference, especially in the church. The reality is that whenever humans get together, you are going to have some conflict, but when we look at each other in light of God's saving grace, things change. Rather than condemn my brother for his sin, I will look at Him and see the forgiven man of God who is my brother in Christ. When someone acts wrongly toward me, I can look at them and see a sinner who has been saved by God's grace and in turn, show that same grace. This reminds me of a song by the artist Brandon Heath called "Gimme' Your Eyes." Here are a few lyrics:

"Give me your eyes for just one second. Give me your eyes so I can see. Everything that I keep missing. Give me your love for humanity."

Begin today by looking at others with God's eyes.

Life Lesson: We should seek to look at people, possessions and events in a new way - in the way the Lord sees them.

Dear God,
I am grateful that You look at me through eyes of grace and forgiveness because of Jesus. Help me to have those same eyes as I go throughout my day today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
