God laughs…think about that. Really…take some time to ponder the thought!
He laughs because He knows the efforts of the enemy are futile. He laughs because He knows He wins––and through Christ––we win! He is a God filled with joy––so much so the Bible tells us that He sings over us with joy!
I love to picture God this way. He’s not the harsh, sober, stoic, mean judge that so many people have made Him out to be. The Bible says that in God’s Presence there is “fullness of joy”! When we hang out with the Lord, we find Him to be a fun, refreshing, happy, smiling, joy-filled, positive Person with an easy laugh!
I know that rocks some of our stereotypical ideas about God. There are many dimensions to the wonders of His person and joy and laughter are a part of God’s very nature and character.
Most of us need a fresh dose of knowing our Father as One who laughs! Been too serious lately? There's nothing like a good laugh. Spend time in God’s Presence to refuel on the “fullness of joy” and be on the lookout for opportunities to laugh. Remember the joy of the Lord is your strength!
Say It: “Father, Help me to spend more time in Your Presence where there is no lack for joy and help me to see things with a new set of eyes so that I can relax and laugh. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
