God Is with Us

We don’t serve a distant deity or some sequestered savior; we have a savior who can identify with us.

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 'The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel'—which means, 'God with us' (Matthew 1:22).

The greatest moment in history provided us with the greatest reality—God is with us. We don’t serve a distant deity or some sequestered savior. We have a savior who can identify with us. He has been where we are. He has experienced what we experience. Jesus understands us more than we realize and He cares about us more than we know.

Don’t forget the reality that Jesus walked among us. In whatever circumstances you face, turn to Christ. Remember that He knows what you are going through, and He cares so much He put Himself right where you are.

Thank God for His willingness to live with us. Ask Him to help you recognize that, in every circumstance you face, He is right there with you.

Write down a list of 5 major events in your life (i.e., birth, wedding, promotion, etc.). Next to each, write “Jesus was right there with me.” Carry this list with you the rest of the week.
