God Is Like Your Shadow
Have you ever seen “Peter Pan,” and if so, do you remember how Peter loses his shadow? He chases it around the room and tries to get it back, but sometimes it’s quicker than him. Of course, it’s impossible for our shadow to move faster or slower than us! But the image is revealing. Unlike Peter Pan, our shadows “stick to our skin” in a way ... they can never be detached from us.
We read in the Word of God, “My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand.” (Psalm 121:2-5)
God is like your shadow: He cannot be taken or moved away from you. When you get up, He is still there. When you lie down, He is there. When you speak to anyone, He is still there (see the Bible, Psalm 139).
Everywhere you go, the Lord follows you. He is your protector. This kind, benevolent God Who is attentive to every one of your steps covers you with His presence ... you’re never alone.
Take a few minutes right now to speak to God, thanking and praising Him with your words.
