God sees you when you’re sleeping. He knows when you’re awake. And he definitely knows about the choices you make. Still, he doesn’t want you to worry about the gifts he’s planning to give you anyway.

Many people are getting ready for Santa Claus to come to town. There are plenty of television shows that tell you how the whole Santa thing works. He keeps track of your behavior all year. Then when Christmas comes around, if you’ve been good, he’ll give you the things on your list. If you’ve been bad, well then, it’s a giant lump of coal for you.

He sees you when you’re sleeping.

He knows when you’re awake.

He knows if you’ve been bad or good so be good for goodness’ sake.

God sees you when you’re sleeping. He knows when you’re awake. And he definitely knows about the choices you make. Still, he doesn’t want you to worry about the gifts he’s planning to give you anyway. “Don’t ever worry and say, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ Everyone is concerned about these things, and your heavenly Father certainly knows you need all of them. But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you” (Matthew 6:31-33).

You can stop making a list of the things you need. God has that taken care of. Instead, be concerned about God’s kingdom. Share the good news. Let your neighbors and your friends know that Jesus Christ is coming to town.
