God Choices

To please God, we need to make consistent choices that honor Him.

Psalm 119:30, 32 (NIV®)

I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws. . . . I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.

Sometimes we make living as a Jesus-follower more complicated than it needs to be. One simple guideline is this: in order to please God, we need to make consistent choices that honor Him. That means we choose “the way of truth” and “run in the path” of His commands. Clearly, we sometimes lose focus and drift off the path. But our daily choices matter, and if we consistently choose to live in a way that honors Him, He will give us greater understanding of His laws and commands and His purposes for our lives. And that understanding in turn helps us make better choices.

Heavenly Father, today I choose the way of faithfulness. Today I choose to run in the path of Your commands. Broaden my understanding, Lord, that I will honor You in the decisions I make today and be able to move forward in the purposes You have for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
