Go!

Description

Take time to think about where you can “go” to preach the Gospel. And then go!

“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’ ” Mark 16:15 (tniv)

It’s easy to get into a good routine as Christians. Spend time with Jesus every morning. pray for the people on our prayer list. Go to church on Sunday, and maybe go to a midweek Bible study. Volunteer at church, whether as a Sunday-school teacher or a greeter or an usher or maybe a deacon. We have a nice schedule that allows us to serve God without being burned out. We know we’re pleasing God with our actions. Or are we?

Jesus gave a very clear command: Go. Not “stay and preach” but “go and preach.”

Go where? Overseas? Across the country? It’s easy to assume that’s what He meant. And for some of us—maybe for you—that’s exactly what He wants for you, to step way outside your comfort zone and your zip code in order to serve Him. In order to serve others. And perhaps to be transformed yourself.

But there are other places to “go” too. Do people at your workplace know you’re a Christian? “Go” to work and start speaking Jesus’ words to your co-workers.

How about the parents at your child’s school? Do you interact with them and get to know them? “Go” and invite them to church or Vacation Bible School.

Do you know your neighbors well? If not, then “go” and get to know them. Show your faith in your actions and your kindness. Let them see Jesus in you.

FAITH STEP: There are lots of places if you start brainstorming—your child’s sports teams, or music groups, or language classes. Your sewing circle, knitting friends, scrapbooking gatherings. Take the time to think of where you can “go” to preach the gospel. And then go!
